Ping Pong Connect Privacy Policy
Introduction
Ping Pong Connect ("we", "us", or "the app") is a social app for the table tennis community: player profiles, photo and video posts, clubs, events, direct messages, and friendly challenges. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, contact us at pingpongconnect@yahoo.com.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address, your name or display name, and your sign-in credentials. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the account identifier and email address those services share with us.
- Profile information you choose to add: profile photo, city/state or general location, skill rating, playing style, club membership, and optional sports-federation ID numbers.
- Content you create: posts, photos, videos, comments, reactions, club and event details, challenge records, and messages you send.
- Push notification token: a device token used to deliver notifications (for example new messages, follows, or challenges).
- Location for club search: when you use the Club Finder's GPS option, your device's coordinates are sent to our server to find clubs near you. They are used for that search and are not saved to your profile. Location shown on your profile is only what you choose to enter yourself.
- Technical data: basic server logs (such as IP address and request time) generated when the app talks to our servers, used for security and troubleshooting.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate the app: showing your profile and posts, streaming your videos, delivering messages, and running clubs, events, and challenges.
- To send push notifications you would expect (messages, follows, challenge invites). You can disable notifications in your device settings.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reported content, enforcing our Terms of Service, and preventing abuse.
- To maintain and improve the service, including diagnosing technical problems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
Third-Party Services We Rely On
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage (profile photos and post images).
- Mux — video processing and streaming for video posts.
- Railway — hosting for our server.
- Apple (Sign in with Apple) and Google (Sign in with Google) — optional sign-in methods.
- Google Places — when you search for clubs, your search text or coordinates are sent to Google to find real-world table tennis venues.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications to your device.
How Your Information Is Shared
- With other users: your profile (as limited by your privacy settings), your public posts, and content you share in clubs or chats are visible to the audiences you choose.
- With the service providers listed above, solely to operate the app.
- If required by law, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.
We never sell your data to anyone.
Your Privacy Controls
- Private account: restrict your full profile to approved followers.
- Follower and following list visibility: everyone, followers only, or nobody.
- Message permissions: control who can message you (everyone, followers, mutual follows, or nobody).
- Blocking: blocking a user hides you from each other across profiles, posts, comments, search, and messages.
- Reporting: you can report any post, user, or direct message to us from inside the app.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
Account deletion is permanent: your profile is anonymized, and your posts, photos, videos, comments, messages, reactions, push tokens, challenge records, and the reports you filed are deleted. Files stored with our storage and video providers are deleted on a best-effort basis as part of the deletion process; if a deletion attempt fails, a file may remain with the provider. Reports that other users filed about your account may be retained in anonymized form as moderation records. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke the app's sign-in authorization when a revocable authorization is on file. Deletion cannot be undone.
Children
Ping Pong Connect is not intended for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, contact us at pingpongconnect@yahoo.com.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers, authenticated API access, and access controls on our database and storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be communicated in the app. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
